In octoja, a Customer represents a company or organisation whose IT systems you manage. Even if you only manage your own company, you still create it as a customer — this is how octoja organises devices, sites, and cases.
Before you start
Make sure you are logged in and have permission to manage customers (the Customer Management permission, assigned via Administration → Groups).
Steps
- Click Customers in the left sidebar.
- Click the Add Customer button in the top right corner.
- Fill in the customer details:
- Click Add.
- The customer is created — a "Customer created." confirmation appears and octoja takes you straight to the new customer's detail page.
The following walkthrough shows the complete flow from the Customers page to creating and viewing a new customer:

Adding sites (locations)
Most customers have more than one office. You can add sites to organise devices by physical location:
- Click on the customer you just created to open its detail page.
- Click Edit Customer to open the edit form.
- Find the Sites section in the edit form.
- Add sites like "Head Office", "Branch Office", or "Data Center", then save.
Sites help you group devices by location and make it easier to see at a glance where a problem is. For more detail, see Create a Customer and Add a Site.
What happens next?
Now that you have a customer, you can:
- Deploy an agent to one of their devices (next step)
- Add more sites to organise their locations
- Create cases to track support requests for this customer
Next step
Continue to Step 3 – Deploy Your First Agent.
