Create a Customer

Step-by-step guide to creating a new customer in octoja and adding their sites.

A Customer in octoja represents a company or organisation whose IT systems you manage. Every device, case, and site in octoja belongs to a customer.

Before you start

You need the Customer Management permission.

Steps

  1. Click Customers in the left sidebar.
  2. Click the Add Customer button (top right).
  3. Fill in the details:

NameYesThe company name, for example "Contoso Ltd"
Reference No.NoAn external reference from your CRM or PSA tool. Use this to match octoja customers to records in your other systems.
  1. Click Add.

The customer is created and the dialog automatically opens the new customer's detail page, with a "Customer created" confirmation.

Adding sites

Sites represent physical locations like offices, data centres, or warehouses, and help you organise devices by location — when an alert fires, you can immediately see which office is affected. To add one, open the customer's detail page, click Edit Customer in the page header, and use the Sites section on the edit page. For the full walkthrough, see Add a Site.
