Step 5 – Get an Overview at a Glance
Open the home dashboard and filter by severity, status, customer, and device kind.
You've enrolled at least one device and activated your first check. Now you can see the bigger picture — the home dashboard at the top of the sidebar shows all your customers, devices, and check results on one screen.
Open the home dashboard
Click Dashboard at the top of the left sidebar. The home dashboard opens.

It opens with Critical and Warning already switched on under Status, so the list starts with only the devices that need attention. If everything you have enrolled so far is healthy, you land on an empty list with an All clear message — that is the expected result, not a problem. Switch OK on as well to see every device.
Filter by what matters right now
The left sidebar lists your customers with a device count and the number of critical and warning devices beside each one, so you can see at a glance where attention is needed. The chip groups underneath narrow the device list on the right.
Device filters and device search also narrow the customer list and its counts: customers without matching devices disappear. Selecting a customer or site does not hide other matching customers, so you can still switch between them.
- Favorites — show only the devices you have starred. Click the star in the first column of any device row to add or remove one; favorites are saved to your own account, so your colleagues keep their own lists.
- Critical, Warning, OK — under Status, filter the view to devices in that severity. Critical is already on when you arrive, so anything that needs immediate attention is the first thing you see. Selecting all three has the same effect as no severity filter at all.
- Online / Offline — filter to devices the agent has checked in from recently, or to devices that have gone silent.
- Pending / Current / Unknown — filter by update status: devices with pending updates, devices that are up to date, or devices whose update status is not known yet.
- Server / Workstation / Network — filter by device kind. Network covers agentless devices such as switches, routers, firewalls, printers and NAS units, which have no operating system, so the OS chips never narrow that group.
- Windows / Linux / macOS — filter by operating system.
- Check types — filter to the devices that run a particular check, for example Disk Space. The group lists every check that has already produced a result on the devices currently in view, so on a new instance it only offers the checks you have activated so far.
Filters from different groups combine, so Critical plus Server leaves you with critical servers only. Check types also changes what the severity chips mean: with a check type selected, Critical, Warning and OK apply to that check's own result instead of to the device's worst check — Disk Space plus Critical lists the devices whose Disk Space check is critical, not the devices that run Disk Space and are critical for some other reason.
Drill into a customer
Click any customer name in the sidebar to filter the view to only that customer's devices. Customers that have sites expand, so you can narrow it further to a single site. Hold Ctrl (Cmd on macOS) while you click to add more customers or sites to the selection. Unassigned devices collects the devices that do not belong to a customer yet, and All customers clears the selection.
Search
The Search devices box filters the list to devices whose name, alias, model, kind, or last-logged-in user matches what you type. Use it to narrow a long list when you know roughly what you're looking for.
What you've achieved
Congratulations — you've completed the octoja Getting Started series. You now have a customer with at least one device sending live telemetry and at least one check evaluating the device's health. The home dashboard is where you'll usually start your day.
Where to go next
- Monitor Device Performance Live — open a single device and see CPU, memory, and disk activity update in real time.
- Open a terminal on a device — run remote commands without leaving the browser.
- Deploy Software to Devices — push installers and updates centrally.
- Keep devices patched — octoja's patch management rolls operating-system updates out in staged rings, reviewed and approved before they install.
