Monitor Device Performance Live

The octoja device detail page shows live telemetry for any connected device, updated every two seconds without a page refresh.

The octoja device detail page shows live telemetry for any connected device, updated every two seconds without a page refresh.

Prerequisites

  • The device must run an octoja agent and be online. Agentless devices — switches, firewalls, NAS boxes and ESXi hosts — report no live telemetry.
  • Viewing live telemetry needs no permission beyond being able to see the device. Acting on it does: the service actions need Service Control, and ending a process needs Process Control.

Open the device detail page

From the Devices list, click the device you want to inspect. An agent-managed device opens on the System tab, which carries the live telemetry; an agentless device opens on Device Info instead.

Tabs on the device detail page

The page is organized into tabs across the top, listed below in the order they appear. Not every tab shows on every device — several depend on what the device reports or on your permissions. While the device is online, the live tabs update automatically without a refresh.

For the optional Virtual Machines and Proxmox tabs, the corresponding feature must first be enabled for your octoja instance. An administrator enables Hyper-V management or Proxmox VE host management under Settings → Beta features.

TabWhat it shows
SystemCPU usage (%), total and used memory, disk capacity and free space, and network receive/transmit rates. A GPU card appears when the device reports GPUs. Click Open chart history on a card to expand its recent history. The Local Users section also shows local accounts; see Remote operations for account management. Agent-managed devices only
Device InfoTakes the place of System on agentless devices, and shows the inventory octoja collects for them over SNMP or from the hypervisor
ProxmoxOptional on an inventory-detected Proxmox host with an agent. Shows host data, virtual machines and containers; see Manage Proxmox guests for prerequisites and actions
ChecksChecks assigned to the device and their latest results
VulnerabilitiesLywand vulnerability findings for the device. Only appears when the device has a Lywand score
UpdatesPending OS updates reported by the agent; shows an up-to-date confirmation when none are pending
ProcessesRunning processes with PID, live CPU use and CPU time, memory figures (working set, committed, paged), and thread and handle counts. Every column sorts, you can search by name, and you can show 25 to 100 rows. This tab only appears when the device reports live processes, when you have an active process search, or when the section reports an error — an idle device with no running processes may not show this tab at all
ServicesAll services with name, display name, signer, start type, and — while the device is online — current status
Active DirectoryDomain users, computers, and groups read from the domain controller. Only appears on a domain controller, and only when your role has the Active Directory device permission
Virtual MachinesOptional on an inventory-detected Hyper-V host with an agent. Shows virtual machines and checkpoints; see Manage Hyper-V VMs for prerequisites and actions
SoftwareInstalled applications and versions reported by the agent
CasesSupport cases linked to this device. Only appears when your role can view cases (the View Cases permission)
AutomationsAutomation workflows relevant to this device — the assigned automations and their recent run history. Only appears when your role has the View Automations permission
ActivitiesGroups three sub-tabs. Tracked Time — time entries logged against this device. Logs — activity log for this device, covering remote actions, deployments, patch management, tasks, configuration changes, and sessions; this sub-tab is hidden on agentless devices. Inventory History — a timeline of inventory changes, covering installed and removed software, services, pending updates, local users, network adapters, and before/after hardware and system details; choose the last 7, 30, or 90 days, or the last year

The live telemetry updates in real time as the device reports its current state:

The NORTHWIND-WS-001 device detail page on its default System tab (no extra navigation needed), showing live CPU, RAM, disk, and network sparklines updating in real time, with hardware identity tiles below.

Find and export inventory changes

Open Activities → Inventory History to trace when the device's inventory changed.

  1. Choose the time range and, optionally, a change type such as software, services, local users or hardware.
  2. Enter a search term, such as an application name or version, and press Enter. Search is case-insensitive. With a change type selected, it searches only that category; it matches recorded values, not translated display labels.
  3. Open matching entries to compare the previous and new values. Export CSV downloads entries for the selected time range and filters across all result pages. The file contains timestamp, type, change, and the previous and new values.

Manage services and processes

While viewing a device, you can take action directly from the live tabs:

ActionHow
Start a serviceOpen the Services tab, find the service, click Start service
Stop a serviceFind the service, click Stop service
Restart a serviceFind the service, click Restart service
Change when a service startsFind the service, open its Start Type column, pick Automatic, Manual, or Disabled
Kill a processOpen the Processes tab, find the process, open its actions menu, click Kill process

Start, stop, and restart are icon-only buttons — hover one to see its label as a tooltip; the start type is a dropdown in the service's own row, and the process action sits in the actions menu at the end of the process row. Stopping or restarting a service and killing a process ask for confirmation first; starting a service and changing a start type apply straight away. All of these need the device to be online, and they are logged in the device activity log (Activities → Logs) under the source Remote Action.

Tips

  • If the live tabs show no data, the device may have just gone offline. Check the Online / Offline badge on the device icon at the top of the page.
  • Data is polled from the agent in real time. If multiple users are viewing the same device simultaneously, each view makes its own requests to the agent.
  • Live telemetry reflects the current moment only. To track performance trends over time, set up Checks — each check run records its result, giving you a growing history automatically.
