Comet Backup

Use the Comet Backup check to monitor the backup runs of the locally installed Comet client, including whitelabel versions, through the Windows event log.

The Comet Backup check monitors the locally installed Comet client, including whitelabel versions, through the Windows event log. It runs every 30 minutes.

Prerequisites

  • A Windows computer with the octoja agent and a Comet client installed.

Steps

  1. Open the device and add Comet Backup under Checks.
  2. Choose the Lookback window (days). The default is 14 days; the window must include the backup runs you want to monitor.
  3. Keep automatic age thresholds or enable Use fixed age thresholds to apply the same limits to every job.
  4. Save the check and inspect the individual jobs after the next run.
  5. If needed, set up alerts for the check.

Results

Each schedule is evaluated separately, even when several schedules back up the same type of data. A run completed with warnings counts towards Last success but retains its warning. Investigate the cause in the backup client; a recent success does not mean every file was backed up without errors.

≈ before Next run marks an estimate based on the previous interval, not a confirmed appointment. No schedule runs, such as manual backups or maintenance, are listed but are not individually scored against age limits. If the check finds only these runs, it reports a warning because no scheduled jobs were found.
