Send Teams message

What the Send Teams message action posts to your channel, which settings it has, and when the step fails.

Send Teams message posts a message from an automation to one of your Microsoft Teams channels, for example when a script has finished or something went wrong. The device doesn't need to be online.

Prerequisites

Configuration fields

FieldTypeRequiredDefaultDescription
Teams channelselectionYes—The channel where the message appears. You pick from your configured Teams channels. If there are none yet, the panel shows "No Teams channels configured. Add one under Integrations first." The list needs the Integration Management permission; without it, the panel shows this message even when channels exist.
Message (optional)multi-line textNoemptyThe text posted to the channel. Add variables ${{ … }} with Insert variable

What appears in Teams

The message appears in the channel as a card with two lines:

LineContent
HeadingName of the automation
TextThe Message (optional) text with variables resolved. Empty if you leave the field empty

The card has no fact list and no device link. The channel's Card language setting does not apply. So put whatever your team needs into the message yourself, such as ${{ trigger.deviceName }} or ${{ trigger.customerName }}.

Platform support

The action runs in octoja and works the same on every operating system.

Outputs

Insert variable offers no outputs for this action.

Result behaviour

CaseResult
The workflow answers with a 2xx status codeSucceeded
The workflow answers with any other status codeFailed, for example with HTTP 404 Not Found
No response after 15 secondsFailed with Timed out after 15s
Network errorFailed with the error message
No channel selectedFailed: "No Teams channel selected."
The channel was deletedFailed: "The selected Teams channel no longer exists."
The channel is disabledFailed: "The selected Teams channel is disabled."

The step sends exactly one request. If delivery fails, octoja does not retry it. You can find the attempt on the channel's History tab. If device is offline has no effect on this action.

A Succeeded step only means the Power Automate workflow accepted the request. It does not confirm that the card is visible in the channel.

Test run and Test step really post the message to the channel.
