Configure a custom domain
Save a custom domain, configure its CNAME record and check access.
By default, your octoja instance uses its octoja address. A custom domain, such as rmm.yourdomain.com, lets users open it through your own address instead.
Your custom domain and its CNAME record do not determine which source IPs octoja uses to contact your integrations or SMTP server. For these IP allowlists, see IP addresses and firewall rules.
Prerequisites
- You are a member of an administrator group. Only administrators can change this setting.
- You can edit the DNS records for the domain.
Steps
- Open Settings โ Custom Domain.
- Enter the complete hostname without
https://, for examplermm.yourdomain.com. - Click Save domain under Configure domain. The Check button appears once the domain has been saved.
- Copy Type (
CNAME), Name and Target from DNS Setup Required into a new CNAME record at your DNS provider. - Wait for your DNS provider to publish the change, then click Check. octoja reports whether the domain is reachable.
- Open the custom domain in a browser and check the sign-in page.
Note: DNS changes can take time to become visible. If the check initially fails, verify the name and target and try again later.
To return to the octoja address, click Remove, then Save domain. Removal takes effect only after saving.
FAQ
The check succeeds, but my domain returns HTTP 404. What now?
The check succeeds, but my domain returns HTTP 404. What now?
Open your instance's original octoja address for comparison. If it works while the custom domain keeps returning 404 despite a correct CNAME and saved setting, contact support. Include both hostnames, the time and the error status so the domain mapping can be checked. A successful check does not replace opening the sign-in page in a browser.
