Review and manually resolve active alarms
See open alarms across all checks and manually resolve stuck alarms as an administrator.
The Active alarms page lists every alarm octoja still holds open for monitoring checks and for which no recovery has been sent yet. Use it to find alarms that will not close on their own — for example because the check was removed from the device before it recovered — and resolve them manually.
Prerequisites
- Only members of an administrator group can open the page, see How Users, Groups & Permissions Work.
- To resolve alarms manually you also need the Manage Alert Configurations permission. Without it you see the list without selection checkboxes.
- The list only contains alarms for devices you reach through your device access.
Read the list
Open Administration → Settings → Active alarms. Each row is one channel's open alarm for one check on one device; a check that alerts through several channels appears once per channel.
An alarm can still be open while the status shows Success: the recovery is only sent once the share of bad results falls below the rule's threshold. When octoja alerts and recovers is described in Set up alerts for a check.
Use Search alarms... to filter by customer, device, config package, check, channel, or reference. Export the list as CSV from the table menu.
Resolve alarms manually
- Tick the alarms you want to close.
- Click Manually resolve in the bar at the bottom of the screen.
- Read the note in the Resolve selected alarms? dialog and click Send recovery.
octoja closes the alarms and sends a recovery through their channel, as if the check had recovered. Cases and PSA tickets are handled the same way as with an automatic recovery.
Warning: If a check with the assignment Active is still failing, its next evaluation can open a new alarm straight away. Fix the cause first or put the device into maintenance mode. Alarms with the assignment Removed stay closed after you resolve them.
If a selected alarm has closed on its own in the meantime, the confirmation reports it as not resolved. Every manual resolution is recorded in the audit log as "Manually resolved alarms".
