Transfer files and extract ZIP archives

Transfer files in File Explorer and deliver folders to a device as ZIP archives.

Use File Explorer to transfer files to an agent-managed device and compress or extract files directly on it.

Prerequisites

The device must be online. You need access to it and the File Browser device action. If a file operation reports “Access denied”, check the file and folder permissions on the target device.

Upload files

  1. Open the device's toolbox and File Explorer.
  2. Navigate to the destination folder.
  3. Drag a local file into File Explorer and wait for the transfer to finish. Check the resulting entry in the destination folder.

You cannot drag folders in directly. For a local folder, first create a ZIP archive and upload it as a single file.

Download files to your computer

  1. Open the device's toolbox and File Explorer.
  2. Navigate to the folder containing the file on the device. Open its action menu and select Download — this also works for an existing .zip file.
  3. Wait for the transfer to finish, then check the downloaded file on your computer.

Unlike uploading, this transfers the file from the device to your computer, not the other way around.

Use ZIP archives

  1. Open the action menu for a file or folder on the device and select Compress to ZIP file.
  2. Enter the archive name and confirm. The ZIP archive is created on the device, not on your computer.
  3. To extract an archive, open a .zip file's action menu and select Extract all.
  4. Check the new folder next to the archive. Its name is the filename without .zip.

If the destination folder already exists, extraction fails instead of overwriting its contents. Choose another archive name or deliberately clear the existing destination folder before trying again.
