Dell iDRAC
Monitor the hardware of your Dell PowerEdge servers through the iDRAC via Redfish, including temperatures, drives and the system event log.
The Dell iDRAC check monitors Dell PowerEdge hardware through the iDRAC's Redfish interface. It checks overall health, temperatures, fans, power supplies, memory, RAID controllers, drives and the system event log (SEL), independently of the server operating system. It runs every 15 minutes by default.
Prerequisites
- An iDRAC supporting Redfish: iDRAC8 with firmware 2.40 or newer.
- A dedicated iDRAC user with read access; the Read Only role is sufficient for this check.
- A device running the octoja agent that can reach the iDRAC over HTTPS, and permission to assign checks. For a device without an agent, its monitoring device executes the check.
Steps
- Open the device and choose Checks → Add Check → Dell iDRAC.
- Enter iDRAC host, iDRAC user and iDRAC password. Use the iDRAC management address, not the server operating-system address. An agentless assignment uses the device address as its host.
- Check HTTPS port and Accept self-signed certificate. Turn the switch off when the iDRAC has a certificate the monitoring device can validate and trust.
- Leave Check drives and Check system event log (SEL) enabled if you need those findings.
- Click Add Check. After the next run, hardware values and findings appear in the check.

Adjust thresholds
Temperatures are evaluated against the hardware thresholds reported by the iDRAC. Use Show advanced options for targeted adjustments:
Results
Overall status follows the most severe finding. A powered-off server reports a warning. Critical SEL entries within the window raise a warning; the lifecycle log is not evaluated. Missing temperature and fan data also raises a warning — a successful connection alone does not confirm complete hardware health.
Troubleshooting
For connection or authentication failures, check reachability and port from the executing agent device, credentials and Redfish support. Compare a hardware finding with the iDRAC console before relaxing thresholds. Monitoring does not repair hardware or acknowledge SEL entries.
