Disk Presence
Get alerted when a previously detected disk is no longer reported, and approve planned removals.
The Disk Presence check detects when a previously recorded physical disk is no longer reported. It runs every 30 minutes by default. Unlike the Disk Space check, it does not monitor free space.
Steps
- Open the device and add Disk Presence under Checks.
- Decide whether to include removable media. They are excluded by default so unplugging a USB drive does not trigger an alert.
- Save the check. It uses the detected serial numbers as the baseline for subsequent comparisons.
- If needed, set up alerts.

Results
A missing drive becomes critical on a subsequent evaluation after a five-minute grace period. The state persists until the drive is detected again or you approve its absence; it does not automatically disappear after a few days.
Approve a planned removal
First check that the disk was intentionally removed. Then open the check configuration on the affected device and add its serial number under Approved missing disks. Save the change. On the next result, this serial number no longer causes a critical state.
Approve only the disk that was actually retired. The exception is not a repair and does not replace investigating an unexpectedly missing drive.
