HP Warranty
Display the HP-reported warranty period of your HP devices and get warned before it expires.
The HP Warranty check displays the warranty period reported by HP and warns before it expires. It runs on a Windows device with the octoja agent, daily by default. HPE devices are not covered.
Prerequisites
You need no API credentials for the local HP device. The check uses HP's official Client Management Script Library (CMSL), installs it from PowerShell Gallery on its first run, accepts the module licence, and then uses HP's local 30-day warranty cache. Its first run therefore needs access to PowerShell Gallery.
Steps
- Open the Windows device and add HP Warranty under Checks.
- Leave Serial numbers, API key and API secret empty to check the local device without credentials.
- Adjust the thresholds if needed and save.
- Open its result to see the serial number, warranty period, remaining days and associated service, where HP supplies these details.
- Set up alerts if needed.
Settings
With no custom serial-number list and no complete API credentials, CMSL reads the local device warranty. With both an API key and secret, the check uses the HP Warranty API even for the local device. To cover other HP devices, such as ones without an agent, enter their serial numbers; both API credentials are required for that mode.
Results
Where multiple service offers exist, the latest end date determines the remaining time and status. The earliest start date is displayed as the beginning. Missing warranty data produces a warning, but does not prove that the warranty has expired.
If credentials are rejected, check the API key and secret. An API rate limit or timeout is a lookup problem, not a warranty expiry. For missing device data, check the serial number and whether the HP service covers the device.
