DHCP Scope Utilization
Get warned before an IPv4 scope on your Windows DHCP server runs out of free addresses.
The DHCP Scope Utilization check monitors how full the address pools of the IPv4 scopes on a Windows DHCP server are. It warns before a scope runs out of free addresses and new clients can no longer get an IP address. The check runs on Windows only (x64 and Arm64), on the agent of the DHCP server itself, every 30 minutes by default. The interval is not user-configurable.
Prerequisites
- The device is a Windows server with the DHCP Server role installed and a connected octoja agent.
Steps
- Open the DHCP server's device page.
- On the Checks tab, click Add Check → DHCP Scope Utilization.
To roll the check out to several servers, use a config package: Assign checks with config packages.
Settings
If Warning utilization (%) is greater than Error utilization (%), the check swaps the two values before evaluation.
The check evaluates IPv4 scopes only, and always every scope on the server. Individual scopes cannot be excluded.
Results
Each IPv4 scope is graded on its own, using the utilization the DHCP server reports (rounded to one decimal place). The overall result is the worst result across all scopes.
If the check cannot grade any scopes, it reports one of these instead:
If an unexpected error occurs, the check reports Failure.
Collected values
- Scope ID (the scope's network address)
- Utilization in percent
- Addresses in use and free
