Storage Spaces Health

Get alerted when a Windows Storage Spaces pool or virtual disk is degraded or unhealthy.

The Storage Spaces Health check monitors the storage pools and virtual disks of Windows Storage Spaces on a Windows device. It reads the health status that Windows reports for each pool and virtual disk and alerts when one of them is degraded or unhealthy. The check runs on Windows only (x64 and Arm64), every 30 minutes by default.

Steps

  1. Go to Devices and open the device.
  2. Click the Checks tab → Add Check → Storage Spaces Health.
  3. Click Add Check.

If the device does not use Storage Spaces, the check reports a warning permanently. Assign it only to devices with storage pools.

Settings

The check has no configuration fields. It always checks all storage pools (except the primordial pool) and all virtual disks on the device.

Results

Each pool and virtual disk gets its own status; the check result is the worst of them.

ConditionStatus
A pool or virtual disk reports the health status “Unhealthy”Critical
A pool or virtual disk reports the health status “Warning”Warning
The device has neither a storage pool nor a virtual diskWarning
The query returned no output, for example after a timeoutWarning
The device does not run WindowsWarning
All pools and virtual disks are healthyOK
The storage query failed or the check stopped unexpectedlyFailure

The result shows the number of checked objects and, for each object with a problem, its type (pool or virtual disk), name and health status. At most 50 objects with a problem are listed. The query has a 30-second timeout.
