Acronis Cyber Protect Cloud

Use the Acronis Cyber Protect Cloud check to evaluate a device's backup result, backup age, backup plans, and active Acronis alerts on the server.

The Acronis Cyber Protect Cloud check evaluates a device's protection status from Acronis Cyber Protect Cloud data: the result and age of the last backup, applied backup plans, and active Acronis alerts. The check runs on the server every 30 minutes by default and does not depend on the device's operating system. It runs nothing on the device and needs no access to the Acronis agent.

For the check to receive data, the integration must be connected and the device's customer matched to an Acronis tenant. See Connect Acronis Cyber Protect Cloud.

Prerequisites

  • The Acronis Cyber Protect Cloud integration is connected under Administration → Integrations. This requires the Integration Management permission.
  • The device's customer is matched to an Acronis tenant.
  • octoja can link the device to an Acronis resource: preferably through a unique Acronis instance ID from the device inventory, otherwise through a device name that is unique within the customer, ignoring the DNS domain suffix.
  • To add the check, you need the Monitoring Check Management permission.

Steps

  1. Open the device and, on its Checks tab, click Add Check → Acronis Cyber Protect Cloud.
  2. Adjust the settings if needed and click Add Check.

Alternatively, deploy the check with a config package.

Settings

FieldTypeRequiredDefaultDescription
Last backup failedSelect (Off / Warning / Critical)NoCriticalResult when the device's most recent backup run did not succeed
Evaluate backup ageToggleNoOnEvaluates the age of the last successful backup. Turn it off for devices backed up on an irregular schedule
Warning after (hours)NumberNo26Hours since the last successful backup at which the check reports a warning. Only visible when Evaluate backup age is on
Critical after (hours)NumberNo50Hours since the last successful backup at which the check reports a critical result. Only visible when Evaluate backup age is on
Device has no backup planSelect (Off / Warning / Critical)NoWarningResult when Acronis knows the device but no backup plan is applied to it
Active Acronis alerts presentSelect (Off / Warning / Critical)NoWarningResult when the device has active Acronis alerts at or above the minimum severity
Minimum alert severitySelect (Warning / Critical)NoWarningWhich Acronis alerts count. Warning also counts critical alerts. Only visible when Active Acronis alerts present is not set to Off

If the age thresholds are entered the wrong way round, the check swaps them before evaluating.

Results

ConditionSeverity
The most recent backup run failedAs set in Last backup failed
A backup plan is applied but no successful backup is known yetCritical (only when Evaluate backup age is on)
The last successful backup has reached Critical after (hours)Critical (only when Evaluate backup age is on)
The last successful backup has reached Warning after (hours)Warning (only when Evaluate backup age is on)
No backup plan is applied to the deviceAs set in Device has no backup plan
There are active Acronis alerts at or above the minimum severityAs set in Active Acronis alerts present
The Acronis integration is not connectedWarning
No Acronis resource is linked to the deviceWarning
None of the conditions applyOK

The overall result is the worst severity across all enabled evaluations. The age thresholds already apply when the value is equal: with the default, the check warns from exactly 26 hours. Age is only evaluated for devices with a backup plan.

The most recent backup run counts as failed when it ran after the last successful backup, or no successful backup exists yet, and Acronis does not report the backup plan's status as OK.

Collected metrics

  • Name of the linked Acronis resource
  • Backup status of the most recent run
  • Time of the last successful backup and of the most recent run, plus the age of the last successful backup in hours
  • Names of the applied backup plans
  • Number of counted alerts, split into warning and critical, plus up to five of the newest alerts with title, severity, and time

Notes

  • The check reads only the data octoja has synchronized and does not query Acronis itself. Synchronization with Acronis also runs every 30 minutes, so changes in Acronis may appear in the result with a delay.
  • Active alerts are the alerts Acronis reported for the device during the last synchronization. octoja removes alerts that Acronis no longer reports at the next synchronization.
  • This check is independent of the local Acronis Backup check, which reads the Acronis agent and acrocmd directly on the device.
