Veeam Backup for Microsoft 365
Use the Veeam Backup for Microsoft 365 check to monitor the result and backup age of your Microsoft 365 backup jobs on the Veeam M365 server.
The Veeam Backup for Microsoft 365 check monitors the latest result and age of successful backups for your Microsoft 365 backup jobs. It runs every 60 minutes by default on the Windows server with Veeam Backup for Microsoft 365; the execution timeout is 360 seconds. It does not start backups and needs no Microsoft 365 or REST API credentials.
Prerequisites
- A Windows server with Veeam Backup for Microsoft 365, a running local Veeam service and the octoja agent installed.
- The
Veeam.Archiver.PowerShellmodule on that server. The check also supports loading it through Windows PowerShell 5.1. - Access to configure this device's checks; for package-based assignment, see Assign checks with configuration packages.
Assign the check to the Veeam M365 server itself, not a backed-up workstation. For other Veeam products, use the Veeam Backup & Replication check or Veeam Backup Agent check.
Steps
- Open the device and add Veeam Backup for Microsoft 365 under its monitoring checks.
- Decide whether to include backup copy jobs and evaluate disabled jobs.
- Open Show advanced options if you need job-name filters or different age thresholds. Age checking is enabled by default even when advanced options are hidden.
- Save the configuration and inspect the next result.
Results show each job's organization, status, last successful backup and — where available — repository, last and next run, and failure reason. Inspect individual jobs: Last success in the summary refers to the newest successful backup, not the oldest.

Results
A running job does not reset the age of its previous successful backup. To receive notifications, also configure alerting for the check.
